I Am Not Throwing Away My Shot

Christian men need a dose of Hamilton - with all of its foibles and bravado - to rile us up and get us all to dig into God's Word.  So, if you haven't already seen or listened to the song from which this post gets its title, stop reading this, and go listen to [WARNING: the song is EXPLICIT]  it (and if you never make it back to my post, it's all good: since I will at least have started your wheels turning).

Now, if you've made it back with Lin-Manuel Miranda's tenor ringing in your ears, hear this: Men, don't throw away your shot.  God has only given you one life to live.  Don't waste it.  If Hamilton didn't throw away his life on vanity - and not even due to Christian conviction -, how much more should we in light of eternity in service to and enjoyment of the Lord Jesus not throw away our shot?

"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" - Mark 8:35-37

Redeem the time God has given you. Don't fritter it away on vanity. Redeem it.

"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil." - Eph 5:15-16

By God's grace, I am not throwing away my shot.  Don't throw away yours.

Ora et labora

- Chad
